At Manor Lodge Dental Practice, we’re dedicated to protecting and promoting the long-term oral health and wellbeing of our patients through preventive dentistry.
Preventive care is the regular check-ups and dental hygiene appointments we offer, along with your efforts and care routines at home. Working together, we can help ensure your oral health and hygiene are kept in their optimum state and try to minimise or avoid invasive intervention treatments wherever possible.
Why is it important?
Our preventive care measures are our first line of defence against such dental issues as tooth decay and gum disease, both of which can lead to much more serious issues and the need for intervention. Tooth decay can lead to the need for fillings, inlays and onlays, and in some cases root canal treatment, for example. Gum disease can lead to tooth loss, bone loss, and is even linked with wider health issues such as heart disease. Our aim here at Manor Lodge Dental Practice is to preserve and promote our patients’ overall health as much as possible, which is why prevention is so important.
Preventive dentistry involves a good oral health routine at home, as well as regular routine check-ups with us here at the practice, and dental hygiene appointments. We recommend coming in for a check-up and dental hygiene appointments every six months to all our patients. At these appointments, we may also recommend and provide preventive treatments such as fluoride varnish application and fissure sealants.
